Dr. Vishal Nath is presently Director, NRC on Litchi, Muzaffarpur, (Bihar) since July, 2010 onwards and is B.Sc. (Ag) and M.Sc (Ag), Horticulture and Ph.D. Horticulture. Post Graduate Course from Hebrew University Jerusalem Israel during 2001.

He is a Scientists (Hort.), CIAH, Bikaner, (1994-99), Sr. Scientist (Hort.), CHES Ranchi (1999-2005), University Professor cum Chief Scientist Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi (2005-2006), Principal Scientist and Head, CHES, Bhubaneswar, (2006-2010).

He has won several Awards and Honours : University Gold Medal (Horticulture) from NDUAT, Faizabad, Bharat Jyoti Award 2008, Bharat Gaurav Award, 2009. Dr. R.S. Paroda Award, 2014. Indira Gandhi Maulik Mustak Lekhan Award, 2015.

He is holding positions in professional Societies: Executive Member, HSI, New Delhi, ISHRD, Dehradoon, Executive Councilor (East), ISPGR, New Delhi, General Secretary, HSC, Ranchi (2002-06), Editor-in-Chief, Chhotanagpur Horticulture (2000-2006), Member Educational Board, Indian Journal of Horticulture, Progressive Horticulture.

He is Fellow: HSI Fellow, 2008; ISHRD Fellow 2010 ; CHAI Fellow 2011

He is conducting Research in the area of Horticulture-Plant Genetic, Resource Management, Improvement of horticultural crops & production technology development for resource poor areas in integrated mode, physiology of shoot and fruit maturity.
