Dr. Pramila Gupta is a Gold Medalist from Aligarh Muslim University in M,Sc., Ph.D. from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, a premiere Institution of Agricultural Research in our Country & Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Simon Fraser University, Canada. She has been a CSIR Pool Officer for two terms and worked in various capacities as Asst. Professor, Associate Professor, Professor & Head, Dept. of Plant Protection, Dean Biotechnology and Dean Agriculture at Allahabad Agricultural Institute, Allahabad in a span of 35-years.

She worked as Principal Investigator, successfully completed nearly 24 R & D projects of national importance, financially sponsored by ICAR, DBT, DST, UGC , CSIR, New Delhi and from UPCST and UPCAR, Lucknow. With the aim to create awareness in farmers, she conducted training programs in subjects like IPM, organic farming, production & use of bio-fertilizers & bio-pesticides and precautions in using pesticide chemicals, etc. She also initiated production of high Quality bio-pesticides at the Integrated Pest Management Centre at University. These various products found wide acceptance by farmers in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

She received the BEST FEMALE AGRICULTURAL SCIENTIST award in 2001 from Govt. of Uttar Pradesh,India and received a CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION by the WORLD BANK, Lucknow for efforts in promotion and production of bio-pesticides in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

She guided 18 nos. of Ph.D students for the award of Ph.D’s , some of whom are Director Agriculture UP, DD-PP Directorate of Agriculture, Lucknow, professors & agriculture scientists at research stations & agricultural Universities, and employees at Industries. She authored text books, chapters in books, review articles and published several research papers. She is a Member on editorial board of several scientific journals.

She is fellow of several professional societies,participated in many international and national conferences, Widely travelled over the globe in pursuit of the profession. She organized several national seminars / training programs / summer school/ winter schools etc on request from DBT, ICAR, Delhi and UPDASP, Lucknow. She is well known with farming community in Allahabad and neighboring districts for propagating the concept of organic farming and role of composts, bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticides etc. in promoting the concept of soil health, environmental sustainability. She conducted a series of trainings sponsored by Governmental and non-governmental sources to extension workers, govt. officers, students, scientists and farmers.
